Netherlands cycling values

The Netherlands with its esta­blished cycling culture (30% trip share) still has a potential to substitute car trips at typical cycling distances. This is an esti­mated reduction of 3 Mtons CO2. The current trip share of cycling at distances <7,5 km is equal to cars, thus representing another 3 Mtons CO2. One could say that cyclists in the Netherlands already avoid 3 Mtons CO2 and pro-cycling government policies -municipal and national- can make this grow to 6 Mtons CO2.
