Validation paradigm

Cycling must become carbon credible and for this we need appropriate mechanisms. The current UNFCC validation and verification methodology is based on evidence measured at the exhaust, which excludes cycling. Since carbon emis­sions in the transport sector are defined by people making mobil­ity choices, the citizens’ choice of sustainable modes should become the basis for carbon credits, not the performance of engines and fuels. Climate mech­anisms need to become people­oriented in stead of vehicle-ori­ented. Cities are for people, not for cars.
